“Beauty of style and harmony and grace and good rhythm depends on simplicity.” – Plato

Having painted many magnified subjects over the years, whether through electron microscopes or macro lenses, my personal signature symbol and literal “stamp” has been a Scarab. From working on various subjects from Butterfly’s to Blood Corpuscles, Dragonfly’s to Pupae- It was time to address my subconscious affiliation with the Sacred Scarab- with all its ancient symbolism and unchanging beauty; an entity that has represented Immortality and Eternity itself.

“Beauty is unbearable, drives us to despair, offers us for a minute the glimpse of an eternity that we should like to stretch out over the whole of time.” Albert Camus

A Butterfly represents the power of the air, the ability to float upon the breeze. It’s ever changing flight patterns reflecting the nature of the mind… in other words… Freedom to flutter where it wants. Transportation, Transformation.

“When the Butterfly takes Wing,
There is nothing left of the Caterpillar…”

“The line of beauty is the line of perfect economy.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Sculpture is the best comment that a painter can make on paintings….” Pablo Picasso
